For fans who have never heard your music, can you pick three words to describe it?! If three words just aren't enough then tell us more!!
Introspective, Lush, and Euphoric
What is your favorite part about being an artist? Is it songwriting, performing, recording, something else?) Tell us why.
I am in love with the whole creative process, but my favorite part would probably be producing. I love picking out individual sounds and making them work together in a way that encompasses what I'm hearing in my head. There is nothing more satisfying than when you make a breakthrough in a song and realize how good it is going to be.
Can you tell us what being in the recording studio is like for you?
I've never actually been in a real studio. I just record in a room in my house, which I love. I think being comfortable in your creative space is vital to good results and home recording is probably the best way to achieve that. For me, anyways.
Okay, this a fun question. When you are not doing music, what else do you enjoy doing?
My other passion is filmmaking. I began a little after I started music at 7 years old and I've been trying to intertwine the two ever since. Since I'm a small artist, music isn't very lucrative so I do a lot of freelance videography for work. I would love to shoot and direct a music video in the future. Apart from that I love working out and hanging out with my dog, Martha.
Who do you admire most in the music scene today and why?
I'm a huge fan of Dayglow and everything he's doing at the moment. He is very inspiring for a guy like me because he was just a small town kid recording indie pop songs in his bedroom and now he has a real following and music that has impacted the world in a really positive way. That's exactly what I want to do.
Can you tell us what song you've written that is the most emotional and describe the meaning behind it?
I would say my song "missing" is the most emotional. I was struggling a lot with depression and I didn't feel like I knew how to tell anyone. To be honest I didn't know any other way to formulate my feelings than to write a song about it. I feel like that song encapsulates the feeling of knowing something is seriously wrong within yourself, but not being able to put your finger on it. I'm really proud of that one.
Are you working on any new material right now or what's in the works for the upcoming year?
I always have something I'm working on. Even if it's just the same loop I've been listening to and tweaking for hours, I know I'll eventually make something out of it. I've been listening to a lot of 80's pop, so I do want to move in that direction with some more synth-driven, disco type stuff.
