Behind the Song
See Your Shadow Songwriting

For fans who have never heard your music, can you pick three words to describe it?! If three words just aren't enough then tell us more!!
I think the best words that describe See Your Shadow's music is The Human Experience. The songs that I write and produce and put together with the help of the See Your Shadow Network of Stars are pieces about the human experience as being part of the human race is truly the one things that ties us all together and the emotions that our music evokes are all universal.
What is your favorite part about being an artist? Is it songwriting, performing, recording, something else?) Tell us why.
I think my favorite part is the songwriting itself being able to tell these stories brings me a lot of joy and I also love putting together, directing and coming up with the concepts for the music videos. That allows me to tap into a whole other set of skills.
Can you tell us what being in the recording studio is like for you?
I am very meticulous when I am in the recording studio. A lot goes into the preparation. I have a set agenda and a schedule and I adhere to it. I am so anal that when I need my background singers to sing a line ten times, I hand them a lead sheet that has the line spelled out ten times, but even though I am meticulous, we always have fun because if you are not having fun what's the point.
Okay, this a fun question. When you are not doing music, what else do you enjoy doing?
Well actually this is a very fun question because besides traveling, which I enjoy very much, I also host the world's only game show about oral sex, "Are You Worth a Rug Burn?" I really enjoy doing that and I am now developing the live action game show into a party game you can play at home.
Who do you admire most in the music scene today and why?
My admiration always goes to the musicians that bring the records to life. People don't realize that so much goes into a record and without the musician as the heart and soul there would be no music.
Can you tell us what song you've written that is the most emotional and describe the meaning behind it?
Well all of our pieces are chock full of emotion as that is my signature as a writer, but I think the one that always resonates not only with me and with our fans is our breakout hit, "I Will Tell Jesus You Said Hello". That song brings comfort to people and it brought comfort to me when I was dealing with the death of my mother.
Are you working on any new material right now or what's in the works for the upcoming year?
We sure do and are super excited about this. We are launching the See Your Shadow Summer of Diversity and Inclusion and anchoring it with our next single, "It Starts With Hello". You know every interaction we have with another person stems from us speaking that word and it's that word that allows people to embrace and begin the much needed dialogue to start to understand one another.
Tell us where fans can access your music.
