Rachael (Petit) Fellers
Rachael is a versatile singer and performer who is well-versed in multiple genres from pop to rap to country to bluegrass. What is your favorite part about being an artist? Is it songwriting, performing, recording, something else? Songwriting for sure! That feeling of having the idea that needs to be out, and putting it into a melody and words, and adding the guitar to support is so satisfying when it comes together. It’s been some time since I’ve performed but there’s no other rush than nailing a song on stage and really seeing people dig this idea you concocted from nothing. Can you tell us what being in the recording studio is like for you? Recording is very natural and comfortable. I stepped into a recording studio for the first time at 15 and it was a great learning experience. In my more developed years of for hire singing or my own albums it just feels like a second home.
Who do you admire most in the music scene today and why? There are so many incredible artists in so many different genres these days. Someone who has and always will be super influential and just an overall badass is Dolly Parton. She has branched out into so many other genres and projects in her later years and isn’t biased or exclusive. I love all these different sub-genres that come together from people from totally different styles and backgrounds that can collaborate and do something just out of left field awesome when they work together. Are you working on any new material right now or what's in the works for the upcoming year? I have written a few songs here and there for myself but nothing really in the works up and coming. It that could always change!
