For fans who have never heard your music, can you pick three words to describe it?! If three words just aren't enough then tell us more!!
Neo-classical; Melodies and harmonies that take you to unexpected places, emotionally driven yet only 2 or 3 minutes long; compositions that spark the 21st century need for private inspiration, sensual beauty or glowing romanticisim. A Frechette miniature fills the need for warm flow, deeper meaning or emotional lift to a higher plane.
When you are writing a song, where do you draw inspiration from? Or what topics do you like to sing about? I draw inspiration from people I love; from nature; and from emotional experiences that I've had.
Okay, this a fun question. When you are not doing music, what else do you enjoy doing?
I have always loved the out-of-doors and motion - so I love skiing, swimming, hiking, riding horses, and sailing. I also enjoy reading great books, watching movies (especially foreign films) and hanging out with my friends.
Can you tell us what song you've written that is the most emotional and describe the meaning behind it?
A lot of my music is emotional, so it's difficult to choose just one piece, but there are two that are deeply emotional for me: 1. The song that I wrote for my father, "My Father's Song." My father was a brilliant musician who was ravaged by the psychs with electric shock treatments when he had a nervous breakdown. 2. The piece I composed for my nephew who passed away in his sleep from unknown causes, "Song for Michael." His untimely death was a tremendous loss for my sister. Composing the song was the only way I could express my compassion.
What was the first song or piece you ever wrote!?
"My Boat" - I composed it as a teenager after sailing across the Atlantic and braving a hurricane at sea!
What is your dream gig? Is there a gig that you really want that would be the ultimate show for you?
I'd love to do a concert with Yo Yo Ma at Carnegie Hall.
Are you working on any new material right now or what's in the works for the upcoming year?
I just finished composing and recording my winter album titled "A Winter's Tale" which includes one of my favorite new pieces, "Liquid Moon", featuring me on piano and the Lyris Quartet strings. It was just available and is available in all the stores.
