Marty Ray Project

Updated: Jan 12, 2021

Marty Ray Project is an artist that does not fit in a creative box. He sings and writes songs from the heart. Sometimes his heart is rocking blues, sometimes it is outlaw country, and sometimes it is gospel. Whatever genre is on his heart at the time that is what he writes or sings. He has a soulful sound in every song he sings though, regardless of genre. He has played for large audiences all over the country and has released three albums and 5 singles in his 12 year music career. He has also had some of his songs in TV and Film. He has amassed over 200 million views and a fan base of over a million across all social media platforms.

For fans who have never heard your music, can you pick three words to describe it?! If three words just aren't enough then tell us more!!

Bluesy, Soulful, Country, Rock n Roll.

When you are writing a song, where do you draw inspiration from? Or what topics do you like to sing about?

Inspiration comes from literally everywhere for me. It’s all around us all the time.

Okay, this a fun question. When you are not doing music, what else do you enjoy doing?

I am actually an actor as well so I’m acting or filming something usually. I also just started writing a column for a magazine called The Beat. I also have a great podcast called, The Marty Ray Project: Chats.

Can you tell us what song you've written that is the most emotional and describe the meaning behind it?

I wrote a song, after I almost died, called “Wait On My Love” that's about my family knowing that I will see them, and be with them through life, even if I didn’t make it back home.

What was the first song or piece you ever wrote!?

When I was 12 years old my older brothers friend was at our house playing my mama's piano and I started just riffing lyrics while singing. He said they were good so I grabbed a pen and paper.

What is your dream gig? Is there a gig that you really want that would be the ultimate show for you?

As far as playing a show I’ve always wanted to play on The Tonight Show. I hope I get the chance someday. God willing.

Are you working on any new material right now or what's in the works for the upcoming year?

I have a new album coming early next year and I’ve released two singles from that album already. Other than that just continuing to post videos to my social media platforms weekly.

Tell us where fans can access your music.
