Drugs For Guns

Drugs for Guns is not about riots, smashing up infrastructure, throwing away your possessions. This is not about anarchy as that will just end up putting power in other bullies' hands albeit this time they will not be wearing Pinstripe suits. A utopia of an anti-capitalist sharing world is a fight for another day! There is nothing to be gained from idealism. Too many are not enlightened enough to understand they are continually governed by an unnecessary instinct for survival that manifests itself in greed. We are the smart ones who understand this primal nonsense and intellectualize it away for a safer and more sustainable world. This is also not about ‘Saving The Planet’. The planet does not need saving. It was fine before we turned up and it will be fine without us. What this is about is saving our place on this planet. Revolution Starts In Your Head!

For fans who have never heard your music, can you pick three words to describe it?! If three words just aren't enough then tell us more!!

One of my favorite quotes in a review was 'Music to break things to'! Made me smile, so let's go with that.

What is your favorite part about being an artist? Is it songwriting, performing, recording, something else?) Tell us why.

Just to be able to be creative. I have played in lots of bands over the years as a professional Drummer but always doing other people's songs. I had this need to write my own music and that coupled with my interest in trying to try and change things for the better led me to start Drugs For Guns.

Can you tell us what being in the recording studio is like for you?

I love it. But only if the song is coming together quickly. If it starts to feel forced I leave it and either come back to it another time or ditch it completely

Okay, this a fun question. When you are not doing music, what else do you enjoy doing?

Skateboarding, Mountain Biking and playing Racquetball. I also spend a lot of time watching documentaries and sport.

Who do you admire most in the music scene today and why?

How much great music is out there. I still love discovering new tracks/bands that give me you a shiver, make you smile or make you want to jump around!

Can you tell us what song you've written that is the most emotional and describe the meaning behind it?

'Utopia'. It has the sample of 'I can not keep doing this to myself'. It is how people reach for self medication, in whatever form it may be, trying to cope with this overwhelming, relentless modern world. How doing so feels like 'Utopia' but when you become sober or detoxed you realize you end up exactly in the same place you were before you started. You then try and find peace again until it can become an addiction. Unfortunately I have had experience of this using alcohol as a way to feel numb. I intend to share my experience when I release this track/video with links to charities and foundations that are there to help people with their mental wellbeing. There is help out there and it is very important to be open about it and talk to people.

Are you working on any new material right now or what's in the works for the upcoming year?

Yes always writing music. We should have 8 new songs and 4 videos finished by the end in the coming months. Also hoping to be involved in a 3 month tour of the USA this Summer but with Coronavirus still devastating lives I am not too optimistic live music will be back by then.

Tell us where fans can access your music.
