Bethan Wyn

Bethan Wyn is a UK-based singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist. Originally from Solihull, her talent has already been showcased nationally and is rapidly growing with an inspiring international interest. Bethan's performances deliver on multiple levels, actively engaging with distinctive lyrics and a captivating tone. Consistently sharing a personalized approach with an emotive edge, Bethan Wyn has been likened to a selection of leading female artists, navigating without restraint and an abundance of character. Openly inviting the listener into the experience, the industry is already poised for her breakthrough single, and ensuing releases throughout the year that will impact with a wave of emotion.

Classically trained but raised on vinyl, her persona exudes authentic integrity often lost in today's broad musical landscape. With a love of old-school Blues, Soul, and Jazz the influences openly flow throughout her shows and recordings. Aiming to share a contemporary twist on classic melodies, the versatility of Bethan's vocals consistently shines through. Growing from her theatrical roots, and taking in her connection to the electronic music scene, she has harbored praise throughout her career as an adaptable chameleon with a consistent approach.

Recently we have witnessed the culmination of Bethan's unique musical compass, perfecting her self acclaimed 'Boujee Sound'. With the forthcoming debut single 'Get To Know You' you will be treated to a familiar yet refreshing vibe that emanates pure personality. The release upholds a versatile production that actively transcends genres with adept, hypnotic, and mellow set vocals, cohesively connected with an accessible commercial edge. Positioned in a class that's comparative to icons such as Stevie Nicks, Sade, and Kate Bush, with a touch of electronic, and provocative undertones. we expect major things for this artist.

For fans who have never heard your music, can you pick three words to describe it?! If three words just aren't enough then tell us more!!

Bona fide, Vibey, Soulful

What is your favorite part about being an artist? Is it songwriting, performing, recording, something else?) Tell us why.

I actually really enjoy all three for different reasons but I do get super excited by the production/recording process. It’s such an adrenaline rush hearing your songs come to life and reach the potential you envisioned.

Can you tell us what being in the recording studio is like for you?

I love getting into the studio as it’s always such a creative, playful place to be, although it can sometimes be daunting. Particularly if you’re paying for studio time as there’s an added pressure to get it right within a time frame. That being said, I’ve always trusted the space & most producers I’ve worked with have been nothing but accommodating if I’ve had an ‘off’ day.

Okay, this a fun question. When you are not doing music, what else do you enjoy doing?

Oh wow! I feel like my days are consumed by music, even more so during the pandemic - it’s been my therapy! I do enjoy lots of different things though. I’m really into fashion (particularly trainers), I’m partial to a little game of rugby (yes girls play too!), I enjoy dancing, spending time with friends & family etc. I’m mostly in my element when I’m sat in a blues/jazz bar (when we’re allowed) sipping on an espresso martini though!

Who do you admire most in the music scene today and why?

Generally speaking, I think I just admire any independent musician trying to get their music out there. The industry is saturated by so much talent and it’s just yearning to be heard. Ultimately it comes down to finances and marketing which isn’t always accessible to indie artists so I respect any musician who continues to graft to reach their goals.

If we’re asking for specific music that I admire, I’m really into an artist called Michael Kiwanuka at the moment. He’s so niche, and all of his music just resonates authenticity.

Can you tell us what song you've written that is the most emotional and describe the meaning behind it?

I always write from an experience whether it be personal or through someone I know. I find it really difficult to just pull a song out the bag without having some sort of connection to it. I wrote a song recently called ‘SpellBound’. It’s actually got a little bit of a Bond vibe to it (I love Bond scores & it’d be a total dream come true to write one one day!). It’s essentially about falling in love with the ‘idea’ of someone. On the surface they represent everything you want but actually behind closed doors you’re faced with a much darker reality which ultimately becomes difficult to escape from. Not all my songs are heavy though, I just find the emotional ones tend to be quite weighted and melancholy.

Are you working on any new material right now or what's in the works for the upcoming year?

Yes loads! I’m just desperate to get into the studio again to be honest! Realistically it’s an expensive process without the backing of a label and/or management and it can be frustrating. Naturally, everything happens at a slower pace as it’s a hefty investment, especially if you take pride in your work. If I had my way, I’d love to be releasing new material every few weeks!
