Andy Lugo

Andy Lugo has hit the scene running with his fresh upbeat style of pop and rock with just a dash of hip hop here and there. Andy found his love for music at an early age when he first bought the Marshal Mathers, LP. His dad heard the record, then immediately crushed the CD with his bare hands, but that did not stop Andy. Soon thereafter, Andy picked up the guitar and began studying the greats like AC/DC, Led Zeppelin, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and more. He fell in love with songs that told stories and songs that made him feel happy, and since Andy himself is a generally happy, upbeat guy, he decided to make his music reflect that.

For fans who have never heard your music, can you pick three words to describe it?! If three words just aren't enough then tell us more!!

Fun, upbeat, catchy

What is your favorite part about being an artist? Is it songwriting, performing, recording, something else?) Tell us why.

My favorite part is songwriting and performing. With songwriting, I get to express emotions in ways I can't do with words alone, and with performing, I get to recreate that experience for others.

Can you tell us what being in the recording studio is like for you?

So I made a choice a while back to cut back my spending so with the knowledge I had accrued being in studios, I built my own make-shift studio in my closet. And I love it. It is my little sanctuary where I can write and record my songs. Stay was completely recorded in that little closet as well as my upcoming EP.

Okay, this a fun question. When you are not doing music, what else do you enjoy doing?

When I am not doing music, I like doing stand up comedy. Prior to taking music seriously, I was a stand up for 8 years. I opened up for names like Joe Rogan and Dana Carvey. I don't do it as often, but I have a lot of comedian friends so I always get invited to do shows.

Who do you admire most in the music scene today and why?

I admire where technology has taken music. There is so much technology for music and as a result there are infinitely more sounds to choose from today than ever before. As an artist, I welcome the challenge because that just makes the choices you make mean more.

Can you tell us what song you've written that is the most emotional and describe the meaning behind it?

I wrote a song for the love of my life called "All For You." It's a dedication to her to show her that every little move I make or breath I take is for her (I think that's the lyrics to a P-Diddy song). It's not out yet, but it will be in June 2021.

Are you working on any new material right now or what's in the works for the upcoming year?

I have an EP coming in June called "Stay..." which is part 1 of 3.
