Behind the Song
ACORN

Alexandria Corn was up for three nominations for The California Country Music Awards that took place December 16th (Entertainer of the Year, Female Vocalist of the Year, and Best Song of the Year.) Recently moving to Nashville, she is working her way in very quickly. Her debut Country single “Same Tattoo” has taken off at over 110,000 streams in under 3 months and has landed her on some of Spotifys most played Country playlists.
During quarantine, Alexandria decided she wanted to take a different approach on her musical career. She has spent countless hours transforming her look, and sound into a full pop project: ACORN. Her first single off the pop project, “Bitch,” reached 100,000 streams in the first month and has put her on the Nashville Pop radar. She is currently writing and releasing one song a month for this project. She also just accepted a sponsorship with Bang energy drink. For fans who have never heard your music, can you pick three words to describe it?! If three words just aren't enough then tell us more!! Incendiary, fresh, and a bit provocative. More so in the meaning that a lot of my songs cause a specific reaction. Especially my first single titled “Bitch.” That’s the one that really changed the game for me.

What is your favorite part about being an artist? Is it songwriting, performing, recording, something else?) Tell us why. Personally my favorite part about being an artist, is having complete creative control on every aspect of being an artist. There are no rules in this game. You can be whoever you want to be. Every artist is so different. We all write about our own life experiences, and that makes us all very unique. But out of all, performing has always been where my heart lies. Getting to be on stage, performing songs that I have written and watching other peoples emotional reaction, is a feeling you can’t beat.
Can you tell us what being in the recording studio is like for you? A day in the studio usually consists of a lot of coffee, and crazy vocal exercises that make me sound like a dying animal. Usually we are cutting more than 2 songs, so I have to keep my vocals well prepared while staying healthy. I have recorded songs before with a full tracking band and I have recorded before with just a producer. Both are completely different experiences and for me, it all depends what kind of sound I am wanting. Personally, there is something about watching your song come to life with a full band. I’ve always been one to listen to more instrumentals than vocals, so during the bands tracking, I am like a kid in a candy shop watching them.
Okay, this a fun question. When you are not doing music, what else do you enjoy doing? I love the outdoors, and I am a huge foodie (always going out to try new cafes and restaurants.) I used to be a horse trainer, and trail tour guide growing up, so being around a farm is where another one of my passion lies. I am trained in both English and Western riding, and whenever I get the time, that’s what you can find me doing.
Who do you admire most in the music scene today and why? Right now, I am really inspired by Miley Cyrus. I have watched her from her Hannah Montana days, and she is one of the most evolving artists I have seen. She seems to have been through so much, and it took her a while to truly find herself. I think she finally has, and she is owning it! I mean she just went number 1 in Rock, and that's such a statement on her end trying to bring back the best genre out there!
Can you tell us what song you've written that is the most emotional and describe the meaning behind it? Actually, I wrote a song back when I was singing Country music, and it’s one of the most personal songs for me. AND, you are hearing it first, IT’S GOING TO BE MY NEXT SINGLE!! This song has taken me a few years to write. I wanted to make sure I got it perfectly. I won’t give it away too much just yet, since I have not announced it yet, but a few months ago, I posted a clip of it on my Facebook asking peoples opinions of the song. Just like that, it became one of everyone favorites. I was receiving hundreds of comments and messages asking when I was releasing this song. So I decided that would be my next. It’s very emotional for me because I wrote it about how if my current boyfriend and I broke up, what my life would look like & how I would try to cope with it. It’s called “Dress up for You.”

Are you working on any new material right now or what's in the works for the upcoming year? Writing a bunch to release singles. This year, I will put an EP out, but for now, I am loving putting out all the new music I can. Now that playing out is finally making a comeback, I’m ready to come out on tour and see you all! There is currently a festival in the books ;) You can stay up to date with me on all socials. IG: @alexandriacornmusicwww.alexandriacornmusic.comSpotify: ACORN
