Behind the Song
Ice.

Unapologetic; a simple way to encompass the new indie-pop artist ‘ice’. With sixteen years of music behind her, and nearly a decade of writing she is ready to enter the music industry with a bang. Drawing on influences from dark pop, psychedelia, and alt-rock she created her six-track debut EP ‘fabricated’. She can be recognized by her distinctive ‘aura branding’, viewing life, emotions, and music as colors rather than mere concepts. Her lyrics challenge archetypes that many girls in her generation can fall into, and pushes to fight against any preconceived notions of herself and the people around her.
For fans who have never heard your music, can you pick three words to describe it?! If three words just aren't enough then tell us more!!
Pure fuckin serotonin, happy-sounding music to the saddest topics.
What is your favorite part about being an artist? Is it songwriting, performing, recording, something else?) Tell us why.
I mean above all else, I’m a songwriter. I’m constantly writing, hammering out like 5-20 songs a week. That’s definitely how I would describe myself. I've always had a really tough time expressing my emotions verbally, or even just to myself, but once I got in the habit of writing songs it was like it all just flowed out perfectly. It's definitely been said a lot, but it truly has been my therapy throughout my life and while I definitely love writing, but I’m so excited to get back to performing and to play my new songs live. It's gonna be sick.
Can you tell us what being in the recording studio is like for you?
You know what, it's a little chaotic, I love it but I bounce around on different versions of a track a million times until I settle back on the one I started with. Thankfully my producer is a very patient and tolerant man, and he can catch on to my vibe and my vision in an instant. Never been disappointed working with Ethan. He's absolutely amazing.

Okay, this a fun question. When you are not doing music, what else do you enjoy doing?
Binge-watching Rick & Morty or going for drives. I’ve probably seen every episode at least 10 times through.
Who do you admire most in the music scene today and why?
Man the list is long, there are so many great artists and great writers out there. I think that DeathByRomy is definitely up there on my list. She’s got an amazing grind, with insane talent and it’s so clear she does it all with such a pure heart. I don’t think she gets nearly enough credit for what she’s accomplished.
Can you tell us what song you've written that is the most emotional and describe the meaning behind it?
Off this EP, it would definitely be the intro. It’s definitely not the biggest song lyrically. But the way I saw it was that this was the song everybody would hear first, and that’s what's going to kick off a whole new era for me. It was more of a relieving song to write, rather than emotional. The song is about how I’m not going to let anybody step in my path or get in my way while I keep grinding and working, and that this is the only road for me, and if anybody says otherwise they’re pretty much gonna get knocked out haha.
Are you working on any new material right now or what's in the works for the upcoming year?
Right now I’m pretty focused on this release, but I have been working on some new stuff. Just been fooling around, trying to get a vision together for the next Album. There are definitely going to be a couple of singles coming up soon.
